John, who lives in Lydia’s apartment complex is the owner of one badass Delorean and was as excited as us to have his car in the shoot! He was the sweetest guy, he even let me hop in the front seat so he could take me for a spin! He was fantastic as Marty McFly, his outfit was spot on.

I have never seen the movie (don’t bash me) so I wasn’t sure what to wear so Lydia lent me some clothes from her mother’s fashion label Jack’s Daughter and bayamm I was the character Lorraine, Marty’s teenage mum from the movie. I lent Lydia my labcoat and safety glasses and brought along some glassware so she could play the character Dr. Emmett “Doc” Brown. Shannon from Flaked Kustom Photography from Ballarat drove 1.5hours, what a champ! Check out Shan’s blog post on the shoot.

My friend and fellow alt model Alphie LaFray lent me a dress from Deer Couture to wear for the shoot. She instructed me to pat baby powder on before slipping the dress on and how to create that ‘wet look’on the outside of the dress to make it photography brilliantly. I wore patent mary jane heels by Wittner.

I balanced on a table in the McZany’s studio, while photographers Kelly and Rick took turns to throw my dreadlocks in the air and quickly snap the shot! It was hilarious trying to look stealth and deadly while my hair was flicking me in the face!

When I picked them up from the airport at 11am, they were sipping on beers so I knew we were going to get along just fine!

They were staying with me at my apartment so we dropped off their things and jumped on a tram and headed to the city. We saw a busker on the street beatboxing into a didgeridoo (is a musical instrument developed by Indigenous Australians) and it was AWESOME to be able to show the gals a small part of Australian culture.

We walked over the Queens Bridge, and over the Yarra River to get to Southbank. I thought they would enjoy the view of Melbourne from the Eureka Skydeck 88- a building 88 floors high with awe inspiring views of Melbourne from the observation deck of the highest public vantage point in the Southern Hemisphere. Aaaaand we drank crownies, a terrible Australian lager- thats all they had!

That night we went to Bimbo Deluxe, a bar in Fitzroy for $4 pizza and pints of beer.

First day of shooting was at the LuWow, a relatively new bar in Melbourne that’s decked out in the most amazing tiki decor!

Louella Deville, one of my favourite Melbourne alternative/fetish models came by for a quick shoot, it was so good to see her! She is amazing, so beautiful and deadly in front of the camera, her shoot took 20 mins because she bangs out her poses so perfectly.

That night we went to Polly, a cocktail lounge in Fitzroy for drinks and a quite bite to eat. Polly has the most amazing chairs to sit on- I love big over the top antique furniture when you cant decide if its really beautiful or really ugly. We met with Susana and Lindy Sue’s friend Sierra who had travelled 8 hours on a train to hang out for a couple of hours- what a doll! We went to the Carlton Hotel, one of my favourite bars in the city for a few drinks before heading home.

The final day of shooting was at the Tiki Bar and Lounge in Richmond.

Susana really wanted to try kangaroo meat during her stay so we went to a little mexican place that had kangaroo burritos! They were delicious, but there was too much going on to really get the taste of game-y the meat is.

We went to Brunetti, an italian style cafe and cake shop for coffee and cake. We went to St Kilda to watch the sunset and walk along the beach.

I dropped the gals off at the airport so they could fly to Sydney to continue their Aussie visit, my apartment smells like candy and hairspray- I miss those two!!

Lydia asked myself and MissNic, a burlesque/gorelesque performer and model to take part in a shoot for Licorice and Cream’s new range of knickers available! Cassie from Romantic Outlaw Imaging was the photographer for the day.

Miss Nic has been called the tattooed lady of burlesque in Melbourne, but with an appreciation of the darker side of life- Miss Nic is not your average burly-que girl. She is the co-producer of Australia’s premier production company Gorelesque, which specialises in horror burlesque and Dark Cabaret stage shows. Much to the delight of punters, she has often been described as “the thing that goes bump and grind in the night” and the “Gorelesque Scream Queen”.

We shot in Lydia’s friends apartment which looked AMAZING inside! The gold frames, the peacock, I was in love with her eccentric taste in décor.

I wore the most amazing hair accessory that Lydia has hand sewn, with beautiful delicate silk flowers and satin ruching. The skull cap wraps around the side of the head and secures with a hair comb and little loops to pin bobby pins through- the most perfect hair accessory for gals like me that style their hair on top of their head and want to add a hair accessory that they don’t have to style their hair around.

The first pair of knickers I modeled had a gorgeous hibiscus print on the front with a bow, they were SO comfortable to wear and the fit was just perfect. I usually avoid lace when looking at lingerie and underwear but this lace was super soft and a beautiful pattern.

Next up was the red heart design, I arranged myself on the (totally pimpin’) leopard print couch and took a few shots next to the elegant peacock with its emerald and turquoise feathers and pearl necklace.

Next was the pinup gal print! So cute.

Lastly, was the uber comfy red lace knickers with the darling red bow and apple button on the trim. So sexy and cute! I posed with Dita Von Teese’s book Burlesque and the Art of the Teese/Fetish and the Art of the Teese.

After the shoot, I went back to Lydia’s apartment for grape soda and to meet her new lil kitten Nashville, awwwww the cutest fluffball ever!!

Parody Petals is a Melbourne based alternative fashion and lingerie boutique that stocks beautiful and unique items inspired by burlesque, pinup, gothic and punk wear.

The other models and I gussied up in gorgeous corsets, suspenders, stockings, leather, faux leather, pvc and accessories.

We had sugar skull makeup done by the amazing Kirby-Elise from Killer Queen Makeup Artistry. Kirby-Elise and I did the gals hair in victory rolls and pinup curls.

We waited backstage for the M.C to announce our names and played around with my old sony cybershot camera.

I waited for the M. C to introduce me and threw back the curtain and stomped on stage! The first outfit I wore was a long sleeve PVC black dress with red trim and a lace up front and UBER cool stockings with bones printed on them!

 After the fashion show the models came out and danced with the crowd and handed out Parody Petals vouchers.

 I am proud to say that I am now a regular model for Parody Petals and will be featured on their website and in future fashion parades!

Porcelain Pinx, the owner of Zombified Cupcake Boutique has a growing range of Lolita, vintage and unique styled clothing. She also makes gorgeous hair pieces and cupcakes!

My look for the shoot was: China Doll.

 I did my own hair and makeup artist Leia Andrews did my makeup. I had previously worked with Leia on a beauty shot phootshoot a while back, she is so talented and precise. She carefully drew little freckles on my cheeks and gave me a red pout! 

Jordanna and Dani Frankenstein (Daniela Ahumada – Hair and Make Up Artist) were the other makeup artists at the shoot, she gave Ava Adorabubble some crazy wild makeup to go with her particular look for the day.

 Porcelain Pinx handmade my gorgeous hairband, which matched perfectly to my outfit and we all love how much I love matching things! Nick from NJ Photography was great to work with! I pulled a blank expression and smashed out some robot hands to look ‘doll-like’ and we were done shooting in 5 minutes!

After shooting was over for the day, all the models gathered around for a final group shot with Porcelain Pinx’s cupcakes that she had made earlier that day. I was supposed to look sad because I only had one cupcake to play with!
